There are many cooking words which I can't read and remember very well,how can I do?

what were you doing before I called?) = looking at carton Before u called,I was reading Japanese cartoon(not carton). Cartoon:drawing in a newspaper or magazine that makes fun of a person(I copy it from my dictionary :-)) My major is mechanical enginnering,so it is so hard for me to make a story.But i think u r right, it is a good chance to use more vocabulary,so i will try.Ths.
