In this class, we continued the topic of Recruitment and selection. I had pre-studied section B and C before class. And I prepared the answer of the question which Monica left to me last class, she wanted me explain the difference between situations vacant and appointment. Monica explained both of them in the last class. Situation vacant is mainly for white collar, and appointment mainly refers to blue collar. I found one of my problems, during the process of class, Monica usually would ask me whether there are any questions or not, but I always found that I have no more questions. I know that I don’t always understand all of those points. I also couldn’t use them fluently. About the summary of section C, I didn’t express it very well. I thought that I could do it better. The section C tells us the selection process and the methods that a German telecommunications company uses to recruit people, it includes the following process. First, advertising in the newspaper about the positions and gathering the resumes from applicants; second, having interview, which includes group discussion, individual interview and psychometric tests. The next step is to shortlist the candidates to three or four guys, and to check their references from their referees, if the references are OK, the candidates will be asked to come back and take more interviews. Finally, they will offer the job to someone if they think he is the right person. But if the candidates who refused the offer, they have to think again, maybe they will have a new recruitment procedure and select other right person they think. Ok, that’s all. Thanks for Monica’s help. The new activity will be taken in the next class, which is very expectant for me.
