Thanks, Krista.
I fully appreciate your help.
Here is the script I prepared for today's topic.
From today’s lesson, I have learnt some new vocabularies, clock in - clock out, clock on ? clock off. In our company, we don’t need to clock in / clock out. The employees are totally trusted.
Some companies apply a system called flextime. Flextime allow employee to select the hours he or she will work, with certain limits. Employees on a flextime schedule may work a condensed work week. Those condensed week may work four ten days, rather than five eight hours days.
For the flextime schedule, employees and the employer can both benefit from it. The obvious benefit to an employer is the ability to accommodate employees who have trouble balancing their jobs and their families.
A less obvious benefit would be a decrease in overhead costs. Employees working flexible schedules can share expensive requirement such as computers, and even desk space, as long as their schedules don’t overlap.
Flextime is good for the environment too. As the workers reduce time to commute to work, fewer cars are out on the road. Fewer cars equal less air pollution, and less congestion on the road. Staggered schedule also help eliminate traffic problems.
For shifts work, some people work in shifts. Such as doctor, nurse, and some plant workers, and so on. It is not easy for those people to change shifts. Our circadian rhythm wants us to sleep at night. Night shift workers are paid more than the day shift workers. But many night shift workers pay a price in their health.
Night shift workers are at higher risk for heart disease, diabetes, and other conditions.
One upside of the night shift is that it can give people flexibility in the day to run errands, pay bills and take their kids to doctor’s appointments.
With the popularity of the personal computers and the internet, telecommuting is gaining much wider acceptance.
Telecommuting Advantage:
1. Save gas
2. Save commute costs
3. Reduce air pollution
4. Less congestion on the road
5. Decrease in overhead costs
6. Employee feel comfortable and more flexible time which is controlled by themselves
Telecommuting disadvantage:
1. No free food.
2. Teleology gets in the way.
3. Have no reason to dress up
4. You may find out about relevant events too late.
5. People may fail to recognized time zone difference.
